Studio or Sunset? Choosing the Right Cedarburg Maternity Session for You

maternity

If you’re anything like me, you’ve got a vision in your head for your Cedarburg maternity session—but maybe you’re torn between the softness of sunset light and the drama of a studio.

Let me help you decide.

Whether you’re leaning toward a cozy indoor vibe or dreaming of that golden-hour glow, both options can be incredibly beautiful. What matters most is how you want to feel—and how you want to remember this season.

Because friend, I promise you—pregnancy may feel endless right now, but once that baby is in your arms? You’ll blink and miss this part.

Studio Maternity Sessions: More Drama, Less Stress

My Cedarburg maternity studio was made with mamas in mind. You don’t need to clean a thing or worry about the weather. Everything’s here—from snacks and soft music to an entire client closet (and yes, you can absolutely raid it like it’s your personal dressing room).

Studio sessions are best if:

  • You want a controlled environment—perfect lighting, no bugs, no wind.
  • You’re hoping to wear more than one outfit (I’ve got tulle, wraps, bodysuits, lace, you name it).
  • You’re considering more intimate or artistic images, like see-through gowns, implied nude shots, or form-fitting bodysuits that just wouldn’t work in a public park.
  • You want to feel pampered. Seriously. Come as you are, let me take care of the rest.

Outdoor Maternity Sessions: Soft, Natural, and Glowy

There’s just something magical about a golden sunset wrapping around your baby bump. Outdoor maternity sessions are filled with movement and connection—perfect if you want to include your partner or littles and document this moment as a growing family.

Outdoor sessions are ideal if:

  • You love natural scenery—think soft grass, golden fields, wooded paths, or lake views.
  • You want that sunset glow—the kind that makes everything feel warm and dreamy.
  • You’re okay with wearing just one outfit (changing outdoors can be tricky!).
  • You want more of a storytelling vibe, especially if we’re including siblings running around or partner snuggles in nature.

As a Cedarburg maternity photographer, I know all the best hidden spots nearby to capture your family in the most beautiful light.

When Should You Book?

Maternity sessions are best booked early in your second trimester—especially if you’re hoping for an outdoor date. Those golden-hour time slots go quickly!

I typically photograph maternity sessions between:

  • 30–34 weeks for single pregnancies
  • 26–32 weeks for twins

That sweet spot ensures you’ve got a beautiful, visible bump—but aren’t so far along that walking or posing becomes uncomfortable. 💕

Need a little extra pampering? I offer professional hair and makeup as an add-on for both studio and outdoor sessions. It’s the perfect way to feel relaxed, confident, and fully taken care of before your shoot.

And whether you’re choosing a golden field or my cozy Cedarburg maternity studio, I promise to make the process easy, stress-free, and full of heart.

Can’t Decide? Here’s My Honest Advice
